I'm still alive

I'm still alive. Trying to survive daily life of dodgeball, or professional juggling at work is probably the best comparison.

Life is passing by so quickly. I read some of my blog posts earlier, and there were things I didn't even recall happening!

I'm going to start trying to blog at minimum monthly to recap life. It's important (and fun) to remember where you have been :)

Work Dinner 9/20/12

My boss threw us a dinner at his house for all of our hard work! It was a fabulous time. Pictures say way more than I could :)

Day 10

Describe your most embarrasing moment.

Hm? I've had a few, but I'm not sure which one constitutes as 'most embarrassing'

Well... this is probably it...

so many of you know that I joke around a lot... Maybe too much at times. You probably also know that I talk to my sister in law Cynthia often and I'm really good friends with Brandi (Cornish) now Huffty...

Please do not take offense to my next statement. I am in no way, form or shape racist!!! I'm Asian raise in a white family, with a Mexican sister. There is no room for racism there :)

One day my phone rings, and I was either expecting a call from Cyn or just thought it was her by Ed's responses. He hands me the phone and I say in my happy giggly voice "what up n*gg@?"

Then, I realize it's not Cyn on the other end of the phone, it's Brandi... and my heart dropped and I immediately started apologizing. Luckily she knows I would NEVER say that in a negative way so we laughed about it. Her more than I because I was sooooooooo extremely embarrassed.

Day 9

List 10 6 people who have influenced you and describe how.

  1. Husband - My husband influences my life everyday, in an unexplainable way.
  2. Parents - My parents taught me the importance of giving and being open minded to others around me. They told me that I could accomplish anything, which is still engraved in my mind, and I completely believe it. They paved the foundation for my adulthood.
  3. Siblings - My siblings have each influenced me in different ways. My brothers can be rewarded for influencing my honesty and competitiveness. My sister has influenced my nurturing side.
  4. Vanessa - she has shown me that you should always keep your head up through your deepest moments. She is a cancer survivor, one of the strongest women I know, and most importantly, my best friend.
  5. My in-laws - my husbands family has accepted me as their own and they have shown me the love of one of their own children/siblings.
  6. My bosses - they have both influenced me professionally. I literally could not be where I am without them, and that is why I have a loyalty toward them.

Day 8

What are 5 passions you have?
  1. Purse shopping... does that count?
  2. Dove Hunting (completely opposite of #1)
  3. Doing for others. Whether this means helping them, being a good friend, or buying for those who cannot afford.
  4. Being the best possible. i'm a really bad loser, but I don't want to be known as the person that didn't pull their part or the person that just sucks.
  5. Photography. I want to be passionate about photography, but I need more time!

I think that is self explanatory.
Hopefully I will be there in a few years :)

Day 6

What is the hardest thing you have ever experienced?

My mothers passing. Nothing has ever compared, and I am not sure that anything will ever compare because of the point I was at in life.

Day 5

What are the 5 things that make you most happy right now?

Well you all know that within the happiest things in my life falls my husband, my family, and my puppy. I'm not going to exaggerate on something you already know, so I'll answer this question differently
  1. My husband and I are debt free with the exception of a mortgage and vehicle payment. Huge accomplishment.
  2. Anything in the color turquoise can catch my eye and normally put a smile on my face
  3. Planning a vacation to somewhere. I'm ready to get away from life for a little while
  4. Hunting Season and Football. Enough Said.
  5. White Chocolate Mocha... mmmm....

Day 4

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.
  1. Clean your room!!!
  2. Study hard and take college courses in High School
  3. Ditch boys, you will have a life time to find 'the one'
  4. In 10 years it won't matter what people think of you now
  5. Be proud of who you are and what you stand for
  6. Spend time with your sister and be respectful of your father
  7. Set achievable goals for yourself for the next 10 years and reward yourself once they are complete
  8. You make your choices, but are not in control of the outcome. [This is something I have learned to live by recently]
  9. Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems [quoted by my boss]
  10. Enjoy this time, it's some of the best memories you will ever have. Quit wanting to be an adult, it's not all that it is cut out to be. Paying bills and working to pay your bills is not something to look forward to.

Day 3

Describe your relationship with your parents

My father and I have had a rocky road, but we are in an excellent place in life and have a wonderful relationship, which I am very grateful for. I was the teenager that knew EVERYTHING and he was the parent that knew EVERYTHING which made for very challenging teenage years. Thankfully we have grown a great distances from this point, and I realize he is not nearly as dumb as I once thought, of course the feeling is mutual because I am not as dumb as he thought either :) He is one of my best friends now, and I look out for him all I can. I am proud that throughout my life he has always provided for me and been there the best he knew how. He is proud that I finished school, and have become successful in his eyes. I tell him I am the best investment he ever made (I'm adopted in case you were unaware) and he agrees. We do tend to argue over a few things, but that is only because I was raised by him and know when to speak up if I need to, so it's his own fault :)

My mother passed away in 1996 and my relationship pre-parents-divorcing was awesome. I was 13 when she passed and she was the best person on Earth. She did everything she could to help me succeed in life. She was a perfect role model, mom and friend. I wish I still had a relationship with her.

All in all:
I tell my husband "I have my dad's attitude and my mom's caring heart" which can be a mixture for disaster at times!  :)

Day 2

Describe 3 legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.

On this note, I am a believer in taking your fears and turning them into something positive and trying to overcome them.
  • The one that most people know is I am afraid of birds. I blame this on a guinea my mom had as a pet when I was a child. Her name was Gertrude, and she was like a pet dog. As cars would drive up and down the driveway to our house, she would chase them. Strange, I know. Well Gertrude evidently had a friend and had baby Gertrude's and I wanted to play with one. After all, every Easter, they would bring us baby chickens or ducks. Well Gertrude didn't like me chasing her to catch her babies, so before I could get to one, she chased me back... all the way into the house. I have been afraid every since.
  • I have a fear of going on a cruise. I will go on one someday, but I am very scared of it. I don't know where this really originated, but I know that once you get in the HUGE ocean and cannot see land is when I think I would freak out. The water is extremely deep, the ocean creatures are HUGE, and I become the bottom of the food chain if I ended up in the middle of the ocean.
  • One of my largest fears is disappointment. My mom and I were on rocky terms when she passed away and as a child I was not too concerned, but once I became an adult (did I just say I became an adult?) I have gained a fear of letting loved ones down. I will never want to disappoint someone that I love. I tell people of this and they think I need to let go, but I don't think it's a bad drive to have... I mean it's better than me sitting here saying I can't quit drugs or drinking, right? I work hard at everything I do in life, and so far it has paid off. I have a hard time saying I can't also. It is a good thing I have a super high stress tolerance because I get stressed often with everything going on in life and the unwillingness to give up!
